WEDDING PHOTOS

last night was date night.

as you know from my last post, james & i don’t use our phones on date night.

we had a wonderful evening eating dinner at pizza prima strada (thank you danae & carmen for the gift card!) and then watching the last harry potter (we’re nerds). but just before bed time, i glanced at my phone and saw an email from our photographers AMERIS with a link to our photos.

OMGEEEEE.

we sat there for the next hour looking through every single photo. it was pure bliss.

the photos blew me away.

it was such an honour to work with AMERIS. rob & julia are pure gold.

i’ll post more photos soon! (famjam gets to see them all first!)

DIARY // UNPLUG

today is wednesday.

which means tonight is wednesday night.

which means … date night.

a night where i pray the clock hands would rotate a half second slower.

ohhhhh, date night. i like you … a lot.

i guard wednesday nights like a mama bird guarding her babes.

date night is sacred.

we live very full lives. very full, sometimes crazy, but insanely blessed lives.

so wednesday nights are a breath of fresh air to me. a night with my man + me.

laughter. love. deep talks. good food. fun. adventure. dreaming. praying.

on our honeymoon we decided to unplug from the world (no facebook, twitter, phone calls, text messages, instagrams) … it was the best decision. seriously, if you haven’t tried it, you must!

we keep the same rules for date night. no texting, calling, face booking, tweeting, instagram-ing (ok we do bring the iPhone along to take photos for future instagrams, but it’s on airplane mode..ha!)

i was given this amazing book from one of my mentors & friends, lisa. it’s called one thousand gifts (busy women, it’s a must read!) and in it the author quotes 'wherever you are , be all there.'

wherever you are, be all there. imagine if we gave every moment our full attention. bam. i’m quick to be distracted. my mind needs to be doing something at all times. but i’m working on it, slowly. i’m learning, well, trying to.

baby steps.

so tonight, i’ll be leaving my moment-stealing, mind-distracting, mobile at home.

freedom.

xo,

couples, do you have a specific night of the week for date night?

how do you get away from all the distractions?

what are your tips on being fully there in every situation?

DIARY // ADJUSTING

hey lovelies,

bah. i apologize for not blogging. let’s just say, this season has taken off. in a good way. a very good way. but it’s hectic round the liira household. we’re still organizing the house. i’m learning to decorate with patience. as my lovely friend, kendal reminded me last night, “it’s all about the hunt.”

we’re currently hunting for a new couch, new big rug & night side tables. i know we’ll collect these items in time, but please send me any leads if you come across some sweet ones (preferably good deals! ha)

i hope to get back to regular blogging next week! we’re heading to edmonton to serve at a  sweet conference (it’s the launch of a new ministry, check it out! http://www.RescueEdmonton.com/ ) james will be leading worship with our city youth team & i will be speaking at a session! very excited to preach about purity! please pray for us…! it’s a 12 hour road trip….! but it’s going to be a fun one.

so it looks like we won’t be getting to the house until next weekend, which is fine. our bedroom is pretty much decorated. james let me have the full closet :) (he made himself another one just off our bedroom) i decided to colour code organize and seriously, it’s the best. it’s way easier to find & pick out clothes & notice when one’s are missing!

happy tuesday!

DIARY // THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

Hello my sweet, sweet friends,

WE’RE HOME!!!!!!

yep, that’s right my husband (<—— love saying that) and i arrived home from our honeymoon late thursday night. we got home to all of our stuff in the middle of every room (our landlords painted the place while we were gone) but nevertheless we placed our mattress in a nook in our dining room and had a good ol sleepover. we slept in that nook for two nights while James painted the main wall in our bedroom with chalkboard paint (we got BIG plans for that wall, just you wait).

i can’t wait to give you a home tour. i seriously LOVE our place…our bedroom is all set up and it’s really a dream.

looking back on the past two and half weeks is madness. so many memories stored up in this sparkling heart of mine. i can’t wait to divulge about the wedding (which for the record, was THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE). i can’t wait to tell you about our incredible honeymoon. ohhhh, there’s so much i want to say…but let me start with this..

i loved every single minute of being back in my home church. James & i are very, very, blessed to be part of an amazing church. we were bombarded with love & kindness from our sweet friends.

James & i found it incredibly hard to transition our minds from honeymoon mode. the season ahead of us is very full but the moment we got back home we knew in our heart it’s going to be an amazing one.

God is amazing. i am blown away from his goodness. He has blessed us with SOOO MUCH.   we are more than ready to be poured out for His glory.

xoxo,
