TUNESDAY: YOUTH LAGOON

Like all people, I love music.

I am not a musician.

I cannot sing.

I really don’t know a lot about music at all. What I do know though, is I know what I like and I know what I don’t like. My boyfriend introduced me to Youth Lagoon knowing I’d like them. ‘Them’ being some 20 year old kid from the states. I totally thought there was a girl & guy singing…whoops…

So I listened and I liked. And then I was watching Greys and a song came on and I was like, ‘I KNOW THIS.’ And then I figured out it was Youth Lagoon and then I felt real cool.

Real talk.

If I could pick a fav kind of music, I’d pick dreamy then folk. This guy is definitely dreamy (the music, not so much the guy). Check out a few here… my fav is Posters.

TAKE HEART

Well groundhog day was yesterday and a couple of the Canadian groundhogs didn’t see their shadow, which means…EARLY SPRING!!!!!!!!

I’ve been waiting for Spring for awhile. As you can see from the title pic, my nails were even longing for spring, causing me to paint them in my favs… mint green & pale yellow. I’m currently wearing a peach hoodie. Pastels are calling my name at all hours of the day. But more importantly than dreaming about pastel nail colours & clothing, my heart is aching for Spring.

I ain’t no winter girl. I mean, snow’s alright and I really, truly, do love Christmas. But that’s about it. I love daylight & I love being warm. Winter lacks both of those. I like A LOT of people, find more joy in the sun than in the grey sky. Last Winter it was pretty bad, I was going through some definite sadness in my spirit. Thankfully, this Winter I haven’t been down, but I still feel it. The ‘it’ being those winter blues.

Today the sun was shining magnificently. I found myself at Dallas Road with my Bible & prayer journal. As I listened to Hillsong’s ‘Take Heart’ and stared off into the sky, I was reminded that Spring is truly just around the corner. If you’ve been having a dark winter, if you’ve been going through crap, if you feel like there is no Hope… TAKE HEART…Spring is coming, heck, you heart can enter into Spring today…

A couple days ago I was looking for quotes on Spring and I stumbled upon this…

"Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.” -The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe

There is victory in JESUS. There is freedom in JESUS. There is healing in JESUS. There are new starts in JESUS. Your heart doesn’t have to live in Winter a second longer. Whatever you are facing, our mighty Lord has overcome it all. Just a single breath of from his mouth melts every single icicle in your way.

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33

Take heart, take heart, take heart…JESUS HAS OVERCOME.

love you to the moon & back,

STAYING GOLD

I achieved GOLD CARD status at Starbucks. I feel so legit. I hate to admit it but I am a Starbucks girl through & through. I don’t mind a latte at Habit or Discovery or Parsonage but I drink soy and like added flavours, which makes my latte around $7. I can get a grande of the drink i love for $2.86. You can’t beat that. Look down on me all you want but Starbucks gives me free soy, free flavours and a free drink every 15.

Happy times.

Which is your favourite coffee spot?

staying gold always,

SMOOTH SAILING

I can see clearly now, because i got new glasses with the correct prescription!  (Yes, I sang that line to the tune of I can see clearly now the rain is gone. Yes, I’m a weirdo.)

So if you’ve been following this blog you’ll know that the dang people who made my glasses two years ago MESSED up my prescription. For almost TWO YEARS, I had been wearing glasses which were reading glasses INSTEAD of ones for distance. The eye doctor put it this way…”Instead of making bad vision better, your old glasses made good vision great.”…which I guess is good? I’m really not too phased. You live & learn. So now I have reading glasses for work and my new glasses for driving at night, reading the screens at church, being able to read the tv listings, watching movies, actually seeing people from across the room, reading street signs…

It’s a beautiful thing when you can FINALLY see clearly. And when you paid $14.95 for it too. Yaaah, I snagged those beauties from Clearly Contacts…(ps. they’re having another free glasses day on February 2nd!)

Another new thing in my life is that beautiful hat. There were a few factors that made this transaction happen. 1. I had been pinning hats like these for awhile. 2. The fashionista inside of me was screaming for a hat like this. 3. I found it at BCBG. 4. IT WAS ON SALE!!! 5. Rachel told me to buy it. 6. I checked my budget and had some extra spending money. 7. Scored the dreamboat!

Hope you had an amazing weekend and have a happy Monday!

DEAR DIARY #014

dear diary,

I’m currently watching National Treasure while writing this blog. Good thing I’m a girl and can multitask. I can write you a proper life update while intensely watching Nicolas Cage search for treasure. I tell ya, if I wasn’t doing what I was doing, I would so be a treasure hunter. Heck, maybe God will put treasure hunting in His will for me??

Anyways… This past week has been amazing. We had John & Helen Burns from Relate Church in Vancouver at our Church this past weekend. John spoke at Adore. He shared on relationships, seriously good stuff. You can listen to it here. Helen spoke at our Dream Women event on Monday night. She has some serious wisdom! Such an inspirational woman. She really challenged us to rise up and open our hands, mouth & heart & do what God wants us to do.

This week was also the last week of the fast. Incredible things God has been teaching me. Wow, I shared with a few close ones this week that it’s an amazing thing when you can look back and see how God has shaped you as you come to know Him more. I think of different opinions I used to have, different strongholds, different views…they’ve changed, I’ve changed…it’s a good thing, a real good thing.

Just the other day I read…

"Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” -Isaiah 64:8

I was reminded how he continually is shaping us in who he wants us to become. As we grow in our relationship with him, we can’t help but take on his characteristics.

I can’t wait to meet the 40 year old me who will have walked with her maker for 22 years. And then the 50 year old me, and then the 60 year old me…

Oh Jesus, continue to shape me.

over & out,
