CHRISTMAS MOVAAAYS
When reading my last diary entry, you may have come to the false conclusion that I wasn’t that hyped on Christmas. Allow me to set you straight. I FREAKING LOVE CHRISTMAS. The first day that Starbucks released their Christmas drinks (which was in November!), I forced James to take me. I started saying ‘Merry Christmas’ to customers at the end of November. I opened my Disney Princess Advent calendar (I don’t care that it’s crappy chocolate, it’s DISNEY!) December 1st with an explosive heart. I love Christmas parties (my staff party on tues was BEST). I love listening to Christmas music (one of the only time of year, I listen to 106.5). I love looking at Christmas lights but…
…Most of all…I AM OBSESSED WITH CHRISTMAS MOVIES. I sent James on November 28th a list of 15 movies we needed to watch. So far we’ve tackled 3. Here are my top 9…
9. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
Nothing screams Christmas more than the little claymation Rudolph. And those little misfit toys…awwwwwwe.
8. Elf
"I passed through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest, through the sea of swirly twirly gum drops, and then I walked through the Lincoln Tunnel."-Buddy the Elf
Oh Buddy, every time he opens his mouth I can’t help but smile. I know this one gets overplayed but seriously, stop being so hipster, sit on down and watch Elf.
7. Little Women
Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, Kirsten Dunst, Christian Bale, Susan Sarandon…talk about all star cast. This classic appeals more to the ladies, set in time of The Civil War. It’s a beaut.
6. To Grandmother’s House We Go
Two words…OLSEN TWINS. Check out these major It girls when they were just wee, little ones. Before they were designing their own fashion lines, appearing in Vogue, they were having a grand adventure.
This gem came out when people actually knew who Tim Allen was. (RIP HOME IMPROVEMENT) Growing up with divorced parents, I always loved watching movies where I could (somewhat) relate. I could not relate to Charlie at all but heck, I looooved this movie. I owned it on VHS and watched it throughout the year.
I swear I only get my imax pass to watch this movie. Christmas ain’t Christmas if I don’t go to the imax and watch this beauty. If you want to be oozing with Christmas Spirit, rent this guy. Seriously, magical stuff. The train ride, the North pole, semi-creepy looking children…YES.
3. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
I actually prefer this one to the first Home Alone. First things first…NYC. Any Christmas movie based in NYC is always a must-see on my list. Other amazing factors in this movie: the nice bird lady, Carnegie Hall, The Plaza, The Toy Shop, that old movie..KEVIN MCCALLISTER……looooove.
2. The Muppets Christmas Carol
From previous Muppets post, you probably know I am MUPPETS obsessed. This movie does not disappoint. Gonzo as Charles Dickens, Kermie as Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit, Michael Caine as Scrooge…talk about DREAM CAST. This movie will leave you with the perfect amount of laughter & Christmas-ness.
This is my ultimate favourite Christmas movie. Muppets + Sesame Street + Fraggle Rock + cameo from Jim Henson himself = MEGA ALL STAR COMBO. I could watch this over & over & over. Seriously, this movie is the bees freaking knees.
So say no to that 823499384 party invite, make some hot chocolate, snuggle up to your sweetheart or grab your girlfriends and get your Christmas Movaaay Love on.

DIY PONCHO
it’s poncho time!
few facts about ponchos..
1. you do not have to be mexican to wear a poncho
2. The poncho is essentially a single large sheet of fabric with an opening in the center for the head with a piece of fabric that covers the head.
3.The poncho was first used on a regular basis in the 1850s by Aaron Fletcher in the Great Plains. These early military ponchos were made of gutta percha muslin, a latex-coated, waterproof cloth.
yes, ponchos are a legit clothing piece that should hang in your closet.
Here are a few drool worthy ones…

Because it’s Christmas time you may be saving for presents , being wise with money, saving for the future, broke. But don’t let that crush your heart… I made a sweet poncho and it only cost me $17. Yep, you heard right.
Directions are from here.
It’s super easy. They used wool but i went with jersey. You basically cut a hole where you want your head to poke out of and then cut tassels!
Here’s mine…

There she be…I’m really hoping to bedazzle with feathers & other crap lovely things but we’ll see!

DEAR DIARY #012

dearest diary,
ya ya, i know what you’re going to say…why do you have pumpkins on this post, when clearly October is soo over and Christmas is AMONG US!
Now, don’t get me wrong. I LOVE CHRISTMAS. I AM SO EXCITED FOR CHRISTMAS! I’m just not entirely ready for fall to be over yet. Fall has been packed to the brim. And I haven’t really had a moment to reflect on it.
So here it is…Goodbye fall. You were an amazing song that finished before I could fully soak you up.
Here are a couple highlights….
THANKSGIVING- made my first turkey! (well stuffed it and put in the oven) Was able to gobble down 2 amazing dinners.
6 MONTH- October marked the 6 month anniversary of my relationship with my amazing moG. The sixth month was probably the hardest so far. A lot of pain but so much growth. Everyday I am just in awe of how good God is. He truly knows exactly what his children need. I couldn’t have dreamed up a better suited boyfriend for me. And take a look at the flowers that James surprised me with at my work. (Take note boys…GIRLS LOVE RECEIVING FLOWERS)

My crappy shots didn’t do a bit of justice. The flowers were UNREAL. 12 lilies, 3 roses, hydrangeas, & pretty purple things. Man, I love my man.
PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES- yes.
ADORE CONFERENCE- Words cannot really describe how amazing Nov. 11-13th was. What sparked as a conversation in February erupted into one amazing conference in November. It was our very first year hosting Adore Conference. I’m not surprised that God blew us all out of the water. There’s something incredibly special about investing your finances, mind, time, heart into 3 full days of pure JESUS. Even though I was working through it, God worked mightily in me. Each service there was something different that captured my heart. God broke my heart completely for a certain person in my life during the Saturday morning worship set. It was as if He was letting me see an ounce of his love for her as her father. Beautiful.
Thank you to our incredible team who worked effortlessly day & night to make it all happen! And thank you to our amazing Pastors Andy & Lisa who pioneered it all. I am truly blessed to serve under such a visionary team.
Just a few other things… date day at Goldstream, Old People/Grilled Cheese Party (YES, THIS REALLY HAPPENED), poncho making (DIY coming soon!)… life is amazing.

MUPPET LOVE
No other characters make my heart sparkle more than the muppets.
Seriously. Look at them.

Those guys. How can one not fall in love with Kermit’s gentility? Or not crack a smile at Fozzie Bear’s puns? Or not want to raid Miss Piggy’s closet? And isn’t Gonzo one of the coolest things you know? And that weird girl in the band who you can’t really tell if it’s a boy or girl..ya, only love for her/him too. And Beaker..oh, precious Beaker. (FYI my man does a pretty impressive Beaker face)
I have loved the Muppets ever since I was a little girl. I remember smiling silly while watching old reruns of The Muppets show on YTV. I even got hooked on The Muppet Babies. My absolute favourite Christmas movie is A Muppet Family Christmas. The Muppet Christmas Carol is a close second. Muppets From Space is simply AMAZEBALLS. (My favourite TV actor Matthew Gray Gubler once said that his greatest acting aspiration is to work with the Muppets and if he could pick anyone in the world to play himself, he would hire Gonzo)
So when I heard last year that Jason Segel wrote a Muppets movie, I almost peed my pants. Pretty sure I jumped up and down and did a little dance. Well the year has flown by and The Muppets comes out today!!! Unfortunately I can’t go tonight but I’m going on Sunday…..SO EXCITED. (Trailer)
Here’s some Muppet love to brighten up your Wednesday…

Muppet Cake Pops…

Muppet meets OPI…my gosh…

I picked up that little Kermie in California earlier this year at Disneyland. It was on sale for $6..steal!

Are you a Muppet lover? Which one makes your heart sparkle the most?
