CARIBBEAN TRIP PART TWO

It's time for Part 2 of our Caribbean Vaycay!! In Part 1, I left you at the part where we finally made it to the cruise ship (after missing a flight and missing the boat!) After hanging soaking up the rays and playing in the bright blue water of Grand Turk, our cruise headed south to Puerto Rico!

We hung out for the afternoon in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As soon as we embarked, we headed off the boat to find a tour. Cruise tip- don't do their overpriced excursions because you can often find tours way cheaper off the boat! And if you research before (we did not) you could probably book some real good ones!

A lot of people ask us if we would do a cruise again. I definitely would. You can actually find pretty good deals for cruises and it gives you a chance to see a lot of places! Oh and the food....soooo good. The theatre entertainment on Holland America was so-so (did not compare one bit to the Disney Cruise I went on) but the music was AMAZING! There was a great classical duo, piano guy and oh my goodness, the B.B. King cover band was sooo good.

After Puerto Rico we headed to Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Once we embarked, we caught a cab to a beach called Magen's Bay. Oh my goodness, it was one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. We went in the morning, before the crowds arrived and enjoyed quiet time on the beach. I was amazing at the wild life. So many little fish jumping and butterflies every where. Man, it was hard to leave.

Paradise hey?? After St. Thomas we sailed north and had a full day at sea. Days at sea aren't the greatest but it was smoking hot so we worked on our tans on the deck/jumped in the pool so we wouldn't melt.

After the day at sea we enjoyed one day at Holland America's private island in the Bahamas. OH MY GOSH. This was the prettiest water I have ever seen in my entire life. We splashed around, ate delicious bbq and fully enjoyed our last day in Paradise. It was sooo hard to leave. :(

So so so dreamy. It makes me a bit sad that we won't go on a tropical vacation for a loooong time but I'm thankful and excited for the season we're heading into!!!

HELLO WEEKEND

COFFEE

Happy Friday everyone! This week flew by...probably because we finally found out WE ARE HAVING A BOY...and leading up to that felt sooo slow. I'm officially halfway through this pregnancy! How crazy is that!!! James and I (with the help of Courtney) registered for a bunch of cute boy things at Toys R Us last night. Every time I pick up a onesie, I picture my sweet baby boy in it and oh my gosh my heart melts...I can't wait to be a mama to him. I want these next 20 weeks to FLY BY but I'm going to try to soak up the free time before my life goes bananas.

Any weekend plans? James is playing in Courtenay on Saturday, so I'm tagging along to visit some sweet friends up there. Other than that, it'll probably be a low key weekend...probably just lots of pinning nursery and baby shower ideas lols.

  • Have you seen the new Ban.Do stuff? I'M FREEEAAAKING OUT. I need this phone case in my life and this water bottle oh my gosh.
  • Any of you listening to Serial these days? I love how it's done but I don't know...I'm just not really into the story....what do you think?
  • I'm finally getting into Making A Murderer...that stuff is CRAY! I think I may binge it tomorrow night..ha.
  • We're sneaking away to Ucuelet for a couple days in a couple of weeks...please send me your recommendations!!

Happy Weekend!

20 GOALS UPDATE // BOOKS

let's read!

Another update on my 20 GOALS FOR MY LAST YEAR AS A 20-SOMETHING ! I set a goal of reading 30 books over my 29th year. Well so far I've read 11...which means I need to get some reading done if I'm going to accomplish my goal before I turn 30 and well, let's face it...before baby boy comes!!!

Today is the last day of our church-wide 21 Day Fast. I fasted from scrolling through social media, and I found that because I wasn't spending so much time on instagram, I had a lot more time for reading! It's been great but I do miss me some insta.

So what have I been reading? All sorts of books and I love it! I need a good combo of fiction and non-fiction, serious and funny or I get bored real fast.

  1. Love May Fail by Matthew Quick Matthew Quick has the gift of producing hilarious yet real and wounded characters. Loved The Good Luck of Right Now and haven't read Silver Linings Playbook but I loved the movie. One thing though, I did find that this booked dragged on at the end...but I did enjoy it. Would recommend.
  2. Looking For Alaska by John Green Author of The Fault in Our Stars & Paper Towns. I thought this book was meh....wouldn't really recommend it but it's a quick read.
  3. Somewhere in France by Jennifer Robson I read this guy on our cruise and it was the perfect beach read. It wasn't life changing but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would recommend.
  4. Live Love Lead by Brian Houston This was a great practical yet easy to read book on leadership and Christian living! I love Hillsong and so respect Brian Houston. I would recommend this book!
  5.  Heaven Is for Real by Todd Burpo Crazy story about a little boy's journey to Heaven and back. It's not the greatest writing but it was easy to read. I would recommend this book but don't expect amazing writing.
  6. Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella Okay, don't judge me but I went on a bit of a Shopaholic series binge!! These are hilarious novels and I would recommend if you want something easy to read!!
  7. Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
  8. Shopaholic to the Rescue by Sophie Kinsella
  9. Room by Emma Donoghue Oh my goodness I loved this book. It was an extremely intense story but because it's told through the eyes of a five year old, I feel like you can handle it better. This one gripped my heart and was my favourite read of 2015. I highly recommend it.
  10. Lost & Found by Brooke Davis I tried to get into this book but couldn't really. I did find myself laughing out loud in certain places but the whole story was just too crazy for me. I would not recommend it.
  11. The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd A gripping story that goes between slave owner and slave. It was long and slow in some parts but I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it.

Okay, there you have it. 11/30! I'm already starting my next (Unstoppable by Christine Caine) and need to pick up one that I have on hold at the library.

Have you read any "must reads" lately? Would love your recommendations!!!

IT'S A......

Sweet Baby Boy

James and I are thrilled to announce that we are having a baby boy!!!
We can't wait to meet our little wild thing ♥︎.

Oh sweet baby boy, you have such a destiny before you.

BOY-BUMP

We got lucky at the ultrasound by having a student doing it. First of all, it was extra long because she was a student and he was moving around like crazy!!! And secondly, she accidentally said "he" three times...lols...and James and I both saw his little man parts!!! I wanted to be 100% before announcing, so I called my doctor's office and the receptionist said they had the results but my doctor hadn't seen them yet, so she couldn't tell me. She did say, she thought I was right..ha! Twenty minutes later my doctor's assistant called and told me the receptionist cornered her to look it over and not keep me waiting, ha! So yes, she confirmed that WE ARE HAVING A BOY!!!!!

To be honest, I think I knew since the very beginning. I still can't wait to tell you our conception story but part of it (ok the main part), was God told me I was pregnant five days before I tested. And in those five days, I couldn't stop calling my baby, "little guy".

I'm so excited to be having a little man although part of me is extremely scared because I am girly to a t BUT I know God is opening up such a special part of my heart to be a mama to a sweet, baby boy. He has so much to teach me and I'm so thrilled.

Now off to plan a boy's nursery and start registering for all the grey and blue (no green please..lol) !!!!!!!!!!

XO!!!
