OUR BLANCO KITCHEN FAUCET + SINK

Can I introduce you to the prettiest sink + faucet ever?? We had a Blanco sink in our old house but only were able to enjoy it for a few months before we moved so when we renovated this house, I 100% wanted to do a Blanco sink + faucet again!

I love the look of a recessed sink but this time around we didn’t want to do white as it can get dirty real quick (especially in a house of 3 kiddos!!) So we went with the colour Concrete Grey and I am obsessed. It’s the perfect beigey grey and blends into our kitchen so well. SHOP THE SINK HERE!

This time around we went with the low divide and I am a BIG fan of that. You’re able to fill the whole thing up if you have something huge to wash OR wash dishes on one side and dry on the other, which is more my jam.

This time we went with the Urbena faucet and I just love how you can get it to match your sink colour! Also don’t get me started on their sink grids and floating dish rack.

Here are some more photos of the sink and kitchen:

More details on the rest of the kitchen coming soon!

KITCHEN RENO PLANS + MOOD BOARD

Remember when we reno’d our 1966 kitchen two months before we moved? The kitchen was the last room we renovated in our old house so we knew when we moved into our new house that we did not want to wait another 6 years to renovate our new kitchen!

Our new home was built in 1989 and I’m pretty sure the kitchen hasn’t been touched. We’ve done a ton of renos on the entire home (floors, walls, stairs, railing) which you can check out on my instagram if you haven’t seen it yet.

Here is what we’re working with…

IMG_0497.JPG

It’s a good size space compared to our last kitchen. We have way more cupboard space even without the pantry that we removed which was beside the fridge.

There’s a skylight on the left side near the fridge and windows surrounding the dining room so this space gets a lot of natural light! For this room I’m going for a completely different look than our last reno. I want this kitchen to feel warm yet modern, kinda California casual/boho but not eclectic ha.

This is the mood board I made for it…

Kitchen Mood Board.png

I’m feeling light beige, wood tones, gold/brass hardware with clean lines. I’m reaaallly hoping for the Cafe Appliances but we’ve heard they’re a one year wait (!!!!!!)

We’ll be going with an Ikea kitchen with Kitch Cabinet fronts and I’m so excited. James has drummed up the Ikea plans and we’re about to order. We will be adding a peninsula. I would have loved to do a free standing island but the space is a bit awkward and the peninsula fits in perfectly!

I’ll show more of the plans soon and more before and afters of the rooms in the new house in the next few weeks!

OUR 1966 KITCHEN RENO

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Guys, OUR KITCHEN IS DONE!!! We’ve lived in this house for over 6 years and up until a few months ago we changed almost every room in the house…except for our kitchen.

I’ve been dreaming about the kitchen reno for a looong time. Originally we were going to gut the whole thing and put Ikea cabinets in but then we realized that this home is just too small to be our forever home. So we scrapped the original idea and instead opted for a more budget friendly remodel!

I’m thrilled with how it turned out. We did everything ourselves (except for installing the countertop + plumbing.)

But before we talk about it, can we check out how it used to look?

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

What a difference hey!!?
Here’s what changed in the space:
Lighting, counters, backsplash, floor, appliances, sink + faucet, cabinets painted + new hardware.

It was A LOT of work but it was manageable and so worth it!

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Now I’ll walk you through all the details! I will be doing a separate post on refinishing + painting the cabinets as that but fyi the colour we used for the cabinets was Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore and here is the link to the hardware (affiliate link).

THE SINK

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Hello dream sink. Seriously, our new sink from Blanco is my favourite part of the reno. I finally have a sink big enough to bathe my baby in it and I’m totally ok with doing dishes!!!

We went with the Precis U Super Single and are sooo happy with it. It’s made of Silgranit, it’s durable, so easy to clean and sooooo pretty.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

I love the look of the recessed sink but Blanco has some beautiful Farmhouse ones too if that’s more your style.

Because our kitchen is quite small, we went with a low profile faucet and it’s I’m so happy with it. It’s the Alta faucet and it has a pull out powerful sprayer which makes washing dishes so much easier. Also, it’s so great for cleaning the sink!

Another great feature that Blanco has is their drying rack that goes in the sink. I absolutely love how you don’t have to take up counter space to dry the dishes! Thank you Blanco Canada for partnering with us!

THE COUNTERTOPS

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Our countertops were done by New Life Stone Works in Victoria, BC and I highly recommend them! Mathew was so great to work with and did an amazing job installing them.

The exact stone we went with was Omnia Quartz Bianco Gioia and I love it. Goodbye 1966 laminate, I will NOT miss you ha.

FLOORS

I wish I had more details but all I have is that they were glue down vinyl tiles. They were $150 off Marketplace and James had to drive an hour to get them but we’re happy with them. Not my dream floor but I think they look great here and you can’t beat $150!!

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

BACKSPLASH

We went with a simple backsplash from Home Depot. Originally I thought James got the 3 x 6 but he went with 4 x 12. I would have loved to do stacked but he thought because we were going to move eventually, we should do a classic pattern and I agree but our next house is getting STACKED!

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

So there you have it, our 1966 Kitchen reno. Let me know through instagram if you have any questions or need any other links!

And watch out soon for the cabinet post!!

MAGIC LINEN REVIEW

Full Disclosure: Magic Linen gifted me linens in exchange for a review.
As always, all opinions expressed are my own! Thanks so much for supporting this space.

Magic Linen Review

Guys, I have BIG news. Well, it may seem very small news to you but it is big for me. This year I started making my bed EVERY SINGLE DAY with throw pillows too. I spent most of my 34 years NOT making my bed everyday and only have the pillows we sleep on but something switched this year and I just HAVE to make my bed every single day, throw pillows and all. And honestly, it brings me so much joy at the end of a long day to come into my room with a beautifully made bed….petty, I know, but it’s the little things.

So when Magic Linen contacted me to review their linen sheets, I jumped at the chance. I had heard many great things about linen sheets but I had never tried them out myself…and I’m so glad because SPOILER ALERT, they’re AMAZING.

Firstly, they have so many stunning colours to choose from. It was honestly so hard!!

We went with classic white sheets for our bed and the duvet cover in natural with a pom pom edge which adds a fun touch! The cinnamon colour is stunning as well, definitely on my wish list!!

Now onto how they feel…so every time I get something new for our bed, my husband can get a bit skeptical. We both had never slept with linen sheets so it was a new thing for us. When James first felt them with his hand, he said they felt a bit scratchy but once you got into bed it was like OH MY GOODNESS, these are HEAVENLY. Both of us LOVE them so much. They are cozy yet cool yet keep you warm….what is this magic!! Our sleeping has improved and we both said we’ll only do linen sheets from now on!

Luca has the Charcoal Grid duvet cover and it fits perfectly with any decor! He also is obsessed. When I woke him up after his first sleep with it, he said “I’m so cozy mama!”

They also have beautiful pieces for the kitchen. I just love this tea towel set!

ENDY MATTRESS REVIEW

Endy Mattress Review

Endy gifted us this mattress but all opinions expressed are our own. Thank you for supporting us!

Sleep is everything around here. Some people get by on very little sleep, that is not me and that is not anyone else in this family. We love our sleep. So when Endy contacted me to review their mattress, I jumped at the chance.

We had heard so many great things about Endy and wanted to see if the mattress lived up to all the hype. If you’re used to sleeping on a spring mattress, it can feel weird to make the switch to a foam one but honestly I will NEVER go back to sleeping on a spring mattress!

The mattress arrives in a big box and obviously our kiddos loved climbing over all the boxes!

What we really think of our Endy Mattress

But what was even more fun than climbing the boxes was unboxing the mattress. It was super easy to assemble and so fun to watch! All you have to do is open the box and cut the plastic off the mattress (they even have a plastic cutter in the box!!), unroll the mattress and voila, hello dreamy sleep!

Before we talk about what we think about the mattress, let’s talk about how it’s made. 100% Canadian. From materials to manufacturing to distribution, it’s all done in Canada.

Endy’s comfort foam makes their mattress one of a kind. It uses open air cell structure to “provide the perfect balance of comfort and support, control sleep temperature, relieve pressure, and eliminate motion transfer.” It’s also made with NO harmful chemicals! The foam is free from formaldehyde, phthalates, flame retardants, and heavy metals. As a mom of 3, you know I’m all about finding things that don’t have nasty chemicals!

Endy also has an amazing 100 night trial. So you can try the mattress out for over three months and if you don’t love it, you can get your money back. (Side-note Endy donates those mattresses to charities across Canada!)

So how did we like it? It feels like sleeping on a cloud..so dreamy! Honestly, I sleep 1000x better than I did on any spring mattress and my back doesn’t hurt anymore like it did on our old mattress!
I would say the firmness level is 7/10 and if you like it firmer, you can put the mattress on a box spring instead of slats.

I also want to give a special mention to the Endy Pillows. They are THE BEST pillows I have ever tried. They don’t lose their firmness (like the 99 other pillows I have tried) and they are soo comfy and adjustable! We also love their duvet and sheets!

If you’re on the fence about getting an Endy my advice is to DO IT! You won’t regret it and if you don’t love it after 100 days you can return it no problem. Right Now Endy is giving away a free sheet set with the purchase of a mattress. Definitely take advantage of that!!
